The glamour and adoration of being a famous K-Pop idol is something that many dream of, but only few achieve. For some K-Pop stars however, becoming a performer in the entertainment industry wasn’t actually their original dream. From VIXX’s Leo to Girls’ Generation’s Yoona, here are eight K-Pop stars who initially wanted to do something else before hitting stardom.
8. Eunwoo – ASTRO
ASTRO’s Eunwoo is actually quite the smart guy, so much so that he was initially going to enroll in the well-renowned Seoul National University to become a judge!
7. Minho – SHINee
Not only does SHINee’s Minho love watching and playing soccer, he initially wanted to do it professionally! Ultimately, Minho chose the microphone over the soccer ball, but he was far from the only K-Pop idol who initially wanted to be a professional soccer player…
6. D.O. – EXO
There’s a reason why D.O. is the “mum” of EXO: he’s awesome at cooking! In fact, had he not joined the group, D.O. would’ve most certainly become a chef!
5. HyunA – 4Minute
4Minute’s HyunA did have dreams of being in the entertainment industry – as an actress! While she failed at over 50 acting auditions, this led the way to Hyuna’s true talent: dancing.
4. Xiumin – EXO
Prior to joining EXO, Xiumin was one of the top students of his school and he initially wanted to channel all that intelligence into becoming an architect! Of course, that didn’t quite play out, but being in one of K-Pop’s most popular boy groups isn’t so bad either!
3. Leo – VIXX
Before Leo became part of VIXX, he was a talented sports prodigy who participated in soccer, Tae Kwon Do, swimming and boxing! Needless to say, if it wasn’t for VIXX, Leo would’ve certainly been an athlete of some kind!
2. Woohyun – Infinite
He may be a talented singer-songwriter, but Infinite’s Woohyun had dreams of becoming either a chef of an athlete!
1. Yoona – Girls’ Generation
Girls’ Generation’s Yoona has said a number of times that she’s not good at cooking, but still enjoys it regardless. We think she’s just being modest, as Yoona had dreams of becoming a chef had Girls’ Generation not come along!
